Taiji Class Change of Class Day & Time Our regular Taiji class will now be held on Friday evenings at 6:00pm – 7:30pm, as of 8th January 2010. The class venue: Room 12B03-06, 13th Floor (Floor 12B), Bo Hong Mansions no.495 Jiang Ning Rd, near the junction of Kang Ding Rd, in Jing An District.静安区江宁路495号博鸿大厦13 (12B)楼12B03-06室,近康定路口. In fine weather we will also do some training outside. The class includes training in Yang Style Taiji and Qigong and is suitable for beginners or intermediate level. Taiji involves a lot of slow, gentle movements and is suitable for people of all fitness levels and health conditions. For advanced learners, please contact Rose Oliver to make arrangements. Please wear loose comfortable clothing and flat shoes. The teachers are Master Wang Ming Bo and Rose Oliver, who will also act as translator. Master Wang has been training in Taiji and Chinese martial arts for around 20 years, Rose for over 16 years. At our regular weekly classes, we teach a traditional 83 posture form of Yang Style Taiji, as taught to us by Master Dong Bin of Shanghai, as well as the 26 basic foundation exercises which compliment this Yang Style form, passed down by Master Dong’s own teachers (Masters Dong Shi Zuo and Yue Huan Zi, both disciples of Grandmaster Dong Ying Jie, a senior student of Yang Cheng Fu) and which helps students build correct posture and alignment and cultivate the correct “feeling” within the form movements. Students will also learn the applications and techniques from the form, as well as qigong exercises to relax and re-centre the energy. Our aim is to make the classes instructive, informative and fun, plus help students improve their well-being, gain a deeper understanding of Taiji Quan and its philosophy, and learn to utilize this ancient health and exercise system to promote health and harmony in their everyday lives. The classes will begin with a series of warm ups and stretches and review of any questions, then the class will split into 2 groups, beginners and advanced learners, for form training. Rose will take the beginner class through the basic requirements of the postures and principles within the form and begin form training; whilst Master Wang Ming Bo, Rose’s gong fu brother (Shi Xiong) who was also a senior student of Master Wang Hao Da and Master Dong Bin, will teach the advanced learners already proficient in the form. The whole group will also work on application techniques and 2-person training exercises together and review the principles underlying Taiji’s philosophy. Come and join our friendly group and learn more about this fascinating art and ancient Chinese health system. For more information about our classes and other activities, please contact Rose Oliver for details, or see our website. Looking forward to seeing you soon! Rose Oliver
